De normenreeks ISO 7240 behandelt automatische brandmeldinstallaties. De norm is uitgebreid met een deel 14 over het ontwerp, de installatie, het gebruik en het onderhoud van automatische brandmeldinstallaties. De norm somt de eisen op voor een goed ontwerp en geeft aan dat de installatie correct moet onderhouden worden door een competent persoon.
